observational drawing: plantlife

this is the first plant which i drew from observation today. i found these drawings really helpful in the fact that i hadn't ever really enjoyed observational drawing before. but i realised that after drawing something multiple times it gets easier to draw as you find you know what goes where and how you want things to look, and what went wrong last time that you can make sure not to do again.

 this is the next plant that i drew. i found this more challenging than the last one because of the amount of detail. i found ways in which i could translate the detail of the plant and the structure without it being too overbearing. 

 the last plant i drew was this little cactus and i found it fun to use negative space and tone to show the different shapes and dynamics of the plant.
