a day in the life: BANG!!!

TODAY I HAD A REVELATION. so i was messing around on photoshop on my own in class like a lil loner, and i suddenly found that i was really loving what was coming out of it!! now, after previously thinking that i wanted to do it in pencil i have decided to do my final images digital and push myself! i've used digital before but not so much to draw on and make final outcomes, so i am scared and also excited!!

a day in the life: further development

started using more colour and developing the ideas that i already had. i feel like some work better than others, for example, although i love my object idea i feel like it wouldn't work so well if the audience hadn't read the article first. i also feel like i could've done more roughs and sketches, as i seem to find myself leaning towards being too precious and neat and i want to push myself.

photoshop workshop: week three

the end of the photoshop workshop. i decided to scan one of my other drawings to mix it up a bit. i chose the mermaid drawing because i thought playing with the intricate lifework would be interesting. i really like the outcomes of this photoshop workshop and having the time to experiment and play around with different features has made me more confident than i already was. i enjoyed this session more than the other two as i was allowed to experiment how i wanted and discover the features myself, which is a preferred way of working for me.

a day in the life: peer feedback & review

the first sheet explaining which each of my concepts are and what i was trying to represent/convey. this part was easy, as i knew which each of my concepts was trying to do and what i wanted to achieve, it was just if my peers could tell themselves.

here is the first round of feedback from one of my peers. we were told not to talk so as they wouldnt know what my article was and to just see if they could work it out themselves, so as to tell us if we had successful drawings. she reviewed some of the ideas which i didnt review myself for the concepts so i got some feedback on some of my other work as well. the overall outcome was most of them conveyed some ideas of loneliness and sadness with a few confusions, however most of the confusion was with the ideas that i knew i wasn't going to carry out so that's good.

on this section we were grouped with people who also had the same article as us and were asked to present our work to them. this gave us the chance to get some real feedback on what we should change and what we should keep. i found this really helpful as it helped me to see which ideas were liked and easily understandable and which i had to scrap.

deep sea diving and the coral reef: 20 drawings

here are the 20 sketches in which i repeatedly drew the same shark. i think these drawings were good for me in the fact that i don't experiment enough and evolve my drawings enough. although the shark did stay looking the same through the drawings by the end i was drawing it quickly and knowingly rather than at the beginning where i drew from a reference photograph.

deep sea diving and the coral reef: initial sketches

here are the initial sketches for the OUIL404 module. the theme that i chose was 'deep sea diving and the coral reef' as i thought it would take me out of my comfort zone a bit rather than do something that i'd be used to like 'mythical creatures'. i tried to be playful with some of the drawings that i did but i think i need to show more development in my sketches rather than focusing on making them look finished.

a day in the life: rough drafts

here are the rough drafts that i did for the 'a day in the life' brief in which i had the article 'the age of loneliness is killing us'.
i did a few more than just 9 because i was struggling to find a theme or drawing that i really liked and would think "ok i could do this as a proper thing". so i think this exercise is good for me to be able to practice with coming up with ideas and developing them, as i think my ideas got better towards the end because i was getting inspiration from my earlier ideas.

photoshop workshop: week two

week two of photoshop workshop - working with colour.

we also made some 'brush' presets which was pretty cool as i didn't know how to do this so yay, learning new things is fun!
