after thinking about how i want my story to look, i have decided to go with the saddle-stitch book with 16 pages. the front one and back one being patterns or a random drawing to insinuate the beginning and end.
i decided to go with this format because i wanted the book to be charming and interesting as they turned the page, and thought a concertina would not be as personal or heartwarming.
the idea that i have been thinking about is to do different drawings of greyhounds in different styles and using different ways of working, with two different sides to the book.
i am yet to decide whether i want to put the horror behind racing at the front of the book or at the back. i feel like each would be shocking in their own way, for example if the nice images are at the front the viewer will think its a charming little book about greyhounds and when i show the torture and shock they will be taken by surprise, or if i switch it around and the horror is at the front, the viewer will be immediately shocked and then heartwarmed at the thought of greyhounds being taken care of at the back.
however thinking about it as i write, if the heartwarming side is at the back, the viewer might think that means greyhounds are happy and the horror has been abolished when it hasnt and there is still many race tracks and horrible things happening around us. so if i were to put it at the end of the book they will really see what is happening and hopefully think what they can do to change it.
(sorry for the load of writing, good job for making it to the end!!)
